Unique worm tubs

Knockdhu is one of only a few distilleries to retain traditional worm tubs for condensing the alcohol vapour. Those at Knockdhu are unique because they allow both the spirit and wash worm to share the same cooling tub.

A model distillery

Substantially built of sparkling pale-grey granite of local origin, Knockdhu was described by a visitor in 1925 as being ‘remarkably well-kept, both inside and out… A handsome avenue leads up to the main buildings and a small orchard of apple, cherry and plum trees, planted near the maltings, lends a charming natural touch to the severe buildings. In the interior almost every corner is spick and span. A powerful electric light plant lights the whole of the premises.’
